RESCHEDULED…
Grand Opening and
Ribbon Cutting June 24!

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the postponement of the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening. The air quality due to the Canadian Fires warns about being outside for an extended amount of time. Since the event includes a day of outdoor fun for kids, it poses such a risk to have them in the bouncy house and outdoor things we had planned.

We have worked so hard to prepare the space and receive our guests to showcase the work that’s being done, but GOD knows BEST. We have rescheduled for June 24 and hope you will still be able to join us!

We are SO EXCITED to see you at the Ribbon Cutting Celebration for the Grand Opening of our program location at 1500 Presstman Street!!!

We have been blessed in serving the community over the past five years through a mobile office where we were able to hear the actual needs of the community directly from the people. The Center @ 1500 is be developed into a full-service community center currently offering the following services:

  • Emergency and Supportive Services – These services that were being delivered through our mobile office now have a central location to better serve and connect residents to a range of supportive services such as Social Services, food, clothing, housing, and legal.
  • Community Computer Lab – The front room of the 2nd floor houses a computer lab where Sandtown residents can grow in their digital literacy skills, connect to online services, and complete resumes and job searches.
  • Individualized Workforce Development Process – rather than a cohort model of classroom training, Faith and Work Enterprises is working one-on-one with clients through case management. This model allows the needs of each person to be individualized to meet their specific needs.
  • Addiction and Mental Health Treatment and Support – We have partnered with the “Programs of Assertive Community Treatment” group from the University of Maryland Medical System who meets with clients in The Center @ 1500 on Thursday’s.

The team serves adults in the community who are unable to use traditional outpatient mental health services due to the seriousness and complexity of their problems. The team members include: psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, substance abuse specialists, counselors, job coaches, and a consumer advocate. Services include:

    • Mental health assessment and treatment
    • Psychiatric rehabilitation
    • Advocacy and outreach
    • Continuous care treatment
    • 24-hour, on-call coverage
    • Medication evaluation, prescription, and monitoring
    • Assistance with entitlements
    • Representative payee service
    • Nursing services
    • Dual diagnosis treatment
    • Assistance in securing housing
  • Community Conversations –  once each month with residents of Sandtown.
  • School Store – Through a partnership with DTLR and The Movement Team (a nonprofit based in East Baltimore), The Center will maintain an inventory of school supply resources to encourage students in their studies.
  • Developing Community Partnership with M&T Bank to promote financial literacy

It’s been quite a journey! On behalf of the residents of Sandtown, we are extremely grateful for your enduring prayers and support.

Peace be with you all,
LeChelle
