Faith and Work Enterprises began as a journey of prayer. The weekend following the uprising in Baltimore, while the city was under curfew, a group of Lutheran pastors, church workers and lay persons gathered to walk and pray for the city and its people, all its people. The group desired to be a peaceful presence, listening to hurting residents, and to pray.
Gathering near the Inner Habor, the group walked to a rally that was taking place on the grounds in front of City Hall. We spoke with many people who were hurting and God granted us many opportunities to pray.
In the weeks and months that followed, the prayer walking would transition to the Sandtown-Winchester community, where more listening took place. Through many conversations, the vision for Faith and Work Enterprises began to emerge.
