New Series: Get to Know Our Neighbors
While we and the community patiently (for the most part!) wait through the list of inspections and the like necessary before officially beginning the workforce development program in our building (see below for update and request), we are overjoyed to begin a new series where we offer you the opportunity to get to know those who mean the most to us, those with whom we walk and with whom we serve: our neighbors.
Sandtown-Winchester is a community in the true sense of the word. Today, meet our neighbor, Odell.

Not every neighbor has a traditional dwelling place or typical story, but each person truly matters. Odell has been part of the community in one way or another his whole life. He is very passionate about children and youth and is always looking for ways to give words of encouragement to young people. He said that he gets this from his mother, who herself was known to help take care of many neighborhood kids. He also likes to see things clean and is often outside of our building with a broom in hand. He knows that his own example of working to keep the neighborhood clean is likely to inspire others to do the same. He LOVES his community and speaks about how nice everyone is to each other – including the generosity that he receives from the hands of his own neighbors.
Please join Odell in praying and hoping for a stronger Sandtown-Winchester, and especially for the children and youth of the community.
Your Support Helps
Since 2017, led by our faith in God’s love for all people in Christ Jesus, Faith and Work Enterprises (a 501c3 corporation) has been in the Sandtown-Winchester community of West Baltimore on a mission of standing with the local neighborhood to build capacity for meaningful work and holistic well-being.
Presently, our focus has been standing with the local neighborhood as we work in and with the community toward greater stabilization in keys areas of crisis – including but not limited to providing and/or connecting people to services which help with food, health, and housing.
We are close to launching the workforce development program to help individuals prepare for and attain meaningful employment.
