Embodying the Gospel
The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. Psalm 33:5
As relationships in the Sandtown community have deepened over these past five years, we have been humbled to learn about the joys and challenges in people’s lives. The Lord cares about the details of people’s lives:
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7
Our Assistant Executive Director, LeChelle Redd embodies the gospel in all she does, not only speaking encouragement and words of hope to all she meets, but also doing whatever is necessary to assist in a God-honoring way. One aspect that has evolved over these five years is recognizing the need for legal support for those who have been treated unjustly in the criminal justice system. We have assembled a team of two attorneys who have volunteered to serve a limited number of clients.
MEET MARQUISE
LeChelle met Marquise through his mother Ms. Battle, who lives near our building on Presstman Street. With tears in her eyes, LeChelle describes Marquise as a bright shining light, even though he is incarcerated with a sentence of 62 years for a crime he did not commit (being a several miles away from the location at the time of the incident). Marquise was not represented well and now his family is suffering as a result.
AND YET, Marquise has a strong faith and is full of joy!
Marquise is the father of three young children. Imagine the negative impact his incarceration is having on his family. Hear how Marquise encourages and parents his children even through the injustice he is experiencing.
