An Amazing Year!

We are Caring Generously

Our Lord continues to do amazing things as this mission develops and 2022 has been a very eventful year for Faith and Work Enterprises!

Progress is made at the speed of trust and Faith and Work Enterprises experiences success when we are embraced as a trusted support arm by our neighbors in Sandtown. We are consistently present, listening, learning, and evolving as an organization to serve people with the love of Christ.

EXPANDED PROGRAMMING

Our programming has expanded to include trauma-informed care through a growing list of community partners who provide a variety of supportive services for mental health, addiction, and homelessness to provide the stability needed as a person moves towards employment. Our major partners include:

  • University of Maryland
  • Healthcare for the Homeless
  • Rapid housing
  • Christophers Place
  • Gaudenzia
  • People Encouraging People
  • Sisters Together in Reaching
  • Baltimore City Community College

We were awarded a Digital Inclusion Grant through the Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband to create a Community Computer Learning Center where residents of Sandtown will have the opportunity to grow in their ability to use available online resources that will enhance their lives. Those in our workforce development track will have access to additional learning opportunities as well as having the opportunity to draft resumes and conduct job searches.

We have connected those ready for direct placement employment to positions in construction, MTA, America Works, and seasonal positions with Operation Christmas Child.

ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH OUTREACH AND SUPPORT

This year’s Back-to-School event was our biggest to date, supporting over 500 students with backpacks, uniforms, and school supplies. The event included a block party with two bounce houses, pony rides, hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy! Thank you to DTLR for providing the DJ, several churches and Orphan Grain Train who provided the supplies!

We have opened a Food Pantry to support those struggling with food insecurity. Our support to families in crisis continues as we provide referrals and connections to a variety of supportive services.

Last winter we established and stocked Warming Stations throughout the community with blankets, coats, hats and gloves to support the homeless population who suffer greatly in the cold months. We are preparing for this year’s stations with generous donations of blankets made by the Busy Bees from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Parkville, Maryland and donations of coats from Orphan Grain Train.

We are planning a Winter Warmth event in partnership with The Lutheran Church of St. Andrew, packing Christmas Gifts of warm clothing for those who are truly struggling: living in abandoned homes, trying to stay warm – and yet remaining as some of the most resilient and resourceful people we are honored to know.

Every interaction provides the opportunity to express how much the Lord cares for each person as we provide encouragement through caring relationships and tangible support.
We are so very thankful for you!

Your support provides the critical resources necessary for Faith and Work to continue helping our neighbors throughout the Sandtown community to move forward in their lives.
